Blues Today Symposium at Buddy Guy’s Legends June 7th

Speakers from various areas surrounding blues music will be on hand at this live event.


Chicago, IL – As part of Buddy Guy’s Legends Blues Fest, the Blues Today Symposium will kick off at 2:00 pm (CDT) on Thursday, June 7th.

Featured topics will include:

2:30-2:50pm: Scott Dirks – “Blues With A Feeling: The Little Walter Story”
3:00-3:20pm: Matt Marshall – – The Shop For Blues, Soul, Rock n Roll
3:30-3:50pm: Lynne Jordan – “It’s Nina Simone’s World”
4:00-4:20pm: Daniel Ivankovich M.D. – Health Resources For Musicians In 2018

The day’s festivities begin at noon (CDT) with a live performance from Eddie Taylor Jr.

After the symposium, there will be a WXRT Blues Breakers Blues Fest Broadcast with Tom Marker and special guest co-host Shemekia Copeland, starring Ronnie Baker Brooks and his band along with Billy Branch and the Sons Of Blues (6:30 pm to 8:00 pm).

Closing out the night is Corey Dennison, performing from 9:30 pm to close.
