Today, Chess Records reissued two cornerstone albums from its storied catalog: Etta James’ At Last! and Chuck Berry’s Berry Is On Top, now available on vinyl. Order the newly released vinyl albums HERE.

Berry Is On Top distills Chuck Berry’s foundational role in rock & roll, featuring era-shaping anthems like “Johnny B. Goode” and “Roll Over Beethoven.” At Last! stands as one of Etta James’ most enduring statements, pouring soul, jazz, blues, and gospel into her vocal performance.

Both albums were newly remastered from the original analog tapes—At Last! benefiting from a recently discovered original master—and cut to lacquer by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings (QRP) and housed in archival-quality tip-on gatefold jackets, these reissues deliver a listening experience built for collectors and audiophiles.

The Chess/Acoustic Sounds series has also opened preorders for two forthcoming titles that underscore the label’s lasting influence. Bo Diddley’s Bo Diddley (Chess 1431) features the explosive title track alongside genre-defining recordings like “I’m a Man” and “Pretty Thing,” songs that helped establish the rhythmic blueprint for rock & roll.

Also slated for release is Muddy Waters’ Folk Singer, a stark and deeply influential blues statement that finds Waters backed by an all-star lineup including Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, and Clifton James.

Recorded in an all-acoustic setting, the album revisits early blues styles through performances of classics such as “Good Morning School Girl” and “Feel Like Going Home,” highlighting Waters’ power in its most unadorned form. Pre-order both albums HERE.
