Guitarist Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), drummer Stanton Moore (Galactic), and organist Robert Walter (The Greyboy Allstars) have come together as The Breaks, releasing their debut single, “Hasheesh.”
Built on a punchy, late-’60s organ-trio foundation, the track features Walter on organ, Roberts on guitar, Moore on drums, with guest horns and percussion adding extra texture. The trio’s tight interplay keeps the rhythm taut, letting solos breathe while the track pushes forward. The single previews their forthcoming 8-track album, which expands organ-trio conventions with tight arrangements, anchored rhythms, and space for improvisation.
As Walter puts it: “Even though this is a new band, there are years of history between us. These are two of my favorite musicians and two of my closest friends. I’m also a huge fan of both Eddie and Stanton. It’s so easy and fun to play music with these people. It’s like putting on a pair of well broken in, comfortable shoes.”
