Noted photographer Michael Weintrob is working to raise funds to fund the creation of InstrumentHead the book. Weintrob’s project, which was recently featured at the Big Blues Bender, takes a new spin on famous musicians and their instruments.

Those contributing to the IndieGoGo campaign can obtain perks like InstrumentHead postcards, signed book copies, special limited-edition prints, andeven your own Tnstrumenthead photo shoot.

Weintrob plans to run 2,500 books for IndieGoGo backers this year, and pending the successful campaign, the book will feature dozens of pages of artists and instruments. Weintrob has photographed hundreds, including Derek Trucks, with whom the unique idea hatched, Zakir Hussain, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Samantha Fish, Tab Benoit, Booty Collins, and many more.

Weintrob is donating a portion of the money raised to several music charities, including Music Maker Relief Foundation, New Orleans Musician’s Assistance Foundation, Rock the Earth and the Tipitina’s Foundation.
