Multiple Blues Music Award winner Nick Schnebelen is back with a high-octane rock-blues album, What Key Is Trouble In? Nick got his introduction to the blues community in 2008, along with siblings Danielle and Kris, as a founding member of Trampled Under Foot. That same year they overwhelmed the competition to with the International Blues Challenge, Nick claiming the Albert King Award for “Best Guitarist.” Since leaving the band in 2014, he has released three original albums under his name.

The new, all-original 13-track album sees him hitting his stride with incendiary fretwork, right up there with Stevie Ray Vaughan, matched by his formidable singing style and songwriting skills. It features his core band of Adam Hagerman and Cliff Moore, with special guests Red Young (keyboards), Buddy Leach (saxophone), and Aaron Mayfield (organ).

What Key Is Trouble In? was co-produced with Chris Hardwick, award-winning producer, publisher, musician, and songwriter. Of the album, he enthuses in the liner notes:

Yes, I admit I am a guitar guy. Nick is flawless on guitar, a fantastic songwriter, singer, and simply a good person who cares deeply for his family and friends.

Thank you Nick, Adam and Cliff for such great music on this release. And, always thankful to my longtime friend and trusted compadre, engineer Trent Bell, as we have spent many hours together tracking in the studio. I can say all of us in this production had a great time. The vibe was so positive, the songs came alive, and I am proud to have been a part of it.

Chris Hardwick

These days Nick and band have been in Europe as the supporting act for one of his biggest influences, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, as they have since the pre-pandemic days.
