When Brant Buckley wrote “We Love Da Bears,” he had Chicago Bears fans in mind. When he made the music video, he wanted to make the frame bigger. The Chicago blues musician and American Blues Scene contributor’s game day anthem is now approaching 18,000 views, just as the Bears prepare to take the field for the start of a new season. The video gives the song another dimension, pairing Buckley’s blues-driven rallying cry with a montage of the Chicago places and images that make the city instantly recognizable.
“I’m really proud of the montage section of the ‘We Love Da Bears’ music video because it brings the Chicago Bears together with so many landmarks that represent the heart and history of Chicago: the Muddy Waters mural, the Wrigley Building, The Bean, the Chicago Theatre, Millennium Park, the Art Institute lions, Soldier Field, and more,” Buckley tells American Blues Scene. “I wanted the video to feel like a celebration of the entire city, not just football.”
As he told American Blues Scene in July, the inspiration came from seeing a photograph of Bears fans at Soldier Field and being struck by the emotion on their faces.
Buckley also recorded “We Love Da Bears” at Mystery Street Recording in Chicago using 432 Hz tuning, a choice he says felt appropriate for a song centered on connection. “That felt right for ‘We Love Da Bears’ because, ultimately, this is a song for Chicago Bears fans and the connection with the team and city.”
