The Miracle in Mundelein music festival, known for its open cannabis consumption policy, recently celebrated its third year with a stellar lineup on September 6 and 7, 2025. The festival offered a unique blend of legendary acts and rising stars, providing a truly memorable experience for all who attended.

Saturday’s Highlights
The weekend kicked off with a high-energy performance from Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, who brought his signature reggae sound to the stage. His performance was followed by an unforgettable set from hip-hop pioneers De La Soul. The legendary trio proved they haven’t lost a step, delivering their classic hits with the same wit and charm that made them icons. OMA and DJ Papa G set the tone for the day, warming up the crowd with their dynamic sets.
A Sunday for the Ages
(American Blues Scene covered the September 7th performances)
Sunday’s performances were a journey through diverse sounds and eras. The day began with a blistering set from bassist Karina Rykman. A true force of nature, Rykman combined the funk mastery of George Porter Jr. with the raw, energetic stage presence of a young Mick Jagger, all wrapped in an Avril Lavigne package. Her performance was a definite highlight and a perfect way to start the day.

The Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra took the stage next. Known for their meticulous recreations of specific Grateful Dead concerts, their set at the Miracle was a pleasant surprise. Instead of recreating a single show, the band crafted a unique, free-flowing performance, showcasing their deep musical connection and honoring the spirit of the Dead without being confined by a rigid structure.

The night culminated with a monumental two-set performance by jam band titans Umphrey’s McGee. The first set celebrated the release of their new album, Blueprints, treating fans to a mix of new tracks and beloved fan favorites. The band’s tight musicianship and improvisational skills were on full display, showcasing why they remain a powerhouse in the jam scene.
For their second set, Umphrey’s McGee delivered a jaw-dropping Pink Floyd tribute. The band was joined by special guest Scott Page, Pink Floyd’s saxophonist, for the entire set. They expertly navigated some of Roger Waters’ most iconic era songs, pulling from legendary albums like Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall. Scott Page’s presence elevated the performance, adding an authentic layer to the already incredible musical journey. The collaboration was a “miracle” in itself, a perfect way to close out a fantastic weekend of music and community.
