Exclusive: The Johnsonaires Premiere ‘Trying To Make It’ From ‘Sacred Soul Of North Carolina’
From ‘Sacred Soul Of North Carolina,’ we are proud to present The Johnsonaires’ “Trying To Make It.”
When Holeman was 14, he bought a new Sears Silvertone guitar for $15. “I thought I had something!” he said. His uncle and cousin taught him a few chords. “I listened to 78s like ‘Step It Up and Go’ by Blind Boy Fuller, the Grand Ole Opry, and heard others play at pig-picking parties. I was good for catching on.”
“Forty Jive” is from the upcoming album ‘The Parlor’ by Alabama Slim, due for release on January 29th, 2021 via Cornelius Chapel Records.
Holeman’s signature ditty is the infectious “Chapel Hill Boogie.” A 12 bar boogie that cooks in all its funky juices…
Celebration includes museum exhibition, comprehensive two-disc set, new book, and more!
