JT Coldfire FEATUREDJT Coldfire, the hard working honky tonk hero has recently released a new album, Always & Never. With opposite compliments like “Coldfire” and “Always & Never”, it’s not hard to see that JT doesn’t fit into any single package. A trip through Always & Never is a whiskey-soaked stroll around a roadhouse that straddles the Louisiana-Texas border. The tracks dance between growling, jumping blues to soft and heartfelt numbers that retain that touch of amusing wit that JT brings to his music.

The first track is a more-country-than Chuck Berry themed song about “The Hunt”. Not long after Coldfire growls his way through “It’s All right With Me”, a song about having fun with your life, he lays into “I’m Feelin’ the Music”, about a sensation that most can relate to: leaving your problems behind to enjoy the music. “I know you might be thinkin’ that I spent it all on drinkin’ and you’d be right and you can kiss my ass,” he quips, “because I’m feelin’ the music.”

Overall, Always & Never is a fun album that occasionally brings a touch of Texas-style class and a light dose of good-hearted menace. JT has a refreshingly unique style of music; a Texas-themed gumbo full of Jump Blues, outlaw country, and spiced with personality. The album, with it’s humor and emotion, is simply fun to listen to, and fans of most blues genres will easily find something to enjoy.
