Gibson has released a new course on the Gibson App titled Texas Blues Legends with Kirk Fletcher. The course is designed for guitar players of varying experience levels and focuses on Texas blues techniques. It is divided into three sections—Rhythm, Lead, and Full Song—and includes more than 20 video lessons that cover foundational patterns, lead playing, and complete song performance.
“Every time I pick up a guitar, I play with a whole lot of soul,” Fletcher says. “Texas blues is about feel, story, and tone. I built this guide so players can learn the language of the style and make it their own—note by note, groove by groove.”
Kirk Fletcher is a GRAMMY®-nominated blues guitarist known for his work with artists including Joe Bonamassa and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. He has contributed to recordings and live performances across contemporary blues and has released several solo projects, including Heartache By-The-Pound. His playing draws from gospel, traditional blues, and modern electric styles, with an emphasis on phrasing and tone.
Fletcher’s recent work includes “Cold Cold Feeling,” a duet with vocalist Erika Baier that pairs his guitar work with her vocal performance. His latest album, Keep on Pushing (VizzTone), was co-produced with JD Simo and recorded with a Nashville-based band in a live-in-the-studio setting. The album includes interpretations of songs associated with Big Bill Broonzy, Arthur Crudup, and Percy Mayfield, along with original material and a Robert Nighthawk tribute co-written with Simo.
Designed for beginners and intermediate players, Texas Blues Legends uses Kirk Fletcher’s experience in live and studio settings and focuses on practical instruction. Each section breaks the style into focused modules that cover rhythm patterns, lead ideas, and full-song arrangements. Fletcher also offers guidance on dynamics, articulation, and overall approach, translating Texas blues concepts into structured lessons that build skills and help players work through complete performances.
