LeoBudWelch1_c_FrancescaCastiglioniLeo “Bud” Welch is an 82-year old Mississippi-based Blues and Gospel musician who’s taken the blues world by storm after releasing his debut album earlier this year. Decades of hard work in the cotton fields and the woods, missed opportunities and gigs in local Juke Joints and churches lead to Leo’s very late international success that is rapidly becoming a story worth telling.

That story is trying to be told through filmmaker Wolfgang Almer, who’s raising money on Kickstarter for a featured documentary called,  I don’t know what you’ve come to do – The Story of Leo “Bud” Welch. The film will be a reflection upon country life in Mississippi over the past eight decades and how it formed Leo “Bud” Welch’s music that touches so many people these days.

The film will be the story of Welch’s long journey, working in cotton fields and learning to play guitar, cutting timber for decades, missed auditions with B.B. King, the civil rights movement, religion, and what Welch is famous for — gospel music and blues and how the blues master combines the two: The music of God and the music of the Devil.

The Kickstarter campaign has already launched and, at the time of this writing, there’s only ten days left to raise the necessary $15,000 to finance this great blues project!
