The 2011 Grammy Awards have come and (almost) gone, at the time of this writing. We’re thrilled to congratulate Pinetop Perkins and Willie ‘Big Eyes’ Smith and Buddy Guy for their respective wins! This is Buddy Guy’s 6th Grammy! Pinetop Perkins, who is a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient,  now has two Grammy awards! Both albums, and all albums to be nominated, are outstanding works of blues art. See American Blues Scene’s review of Buddy Guy’s album Living Proof here, published last December.

Bettye Lavette deserved to win the contemporary blues category for her interpretations of
British Invasion rock. Nobody could top what she did with those songs.

Bettye’s album was amazing. I certainly wouldn’t want to be the folks that had to decide. We listened to nearly all of the albums and they were truly a Grammy-worthy lot this year.
