TX-based songwriter Thomas Csorba has a new 5-track EP From The Jordan out on 10/8. Produced by Beau Bedford of The Texas Gentlemen, the EP centers on themes of romantic love and features cowrites with Bedford, Brian Douglas Phillips, and David Ramirez. Csorba is a masterful songwriter with a fast-rising profile in Texas music circles and beyond.

Those who discover Csorba today will find a voice with grit and gravel beyond the singer’s years, but a searching spirit and sense of purpose that suggest his youth.

Csorba is leading the pack of a new generation of Americana songwriters with Texas roots. “For You,” premiering exclusively today on ABS, relates his grandparents’ story of fleeing from Hungary as refugees — revealing him as a compelling storyteller and unique voice.

Of writing and recording “For You,” Csorba tells us:

Writing and recording this song was about as fun as it gets. As Beau and I started writing this song together, I knew that it was shaping up to be a song about sacrifice, about genuine love for somebody else, and an unquestionable hope for the future. I started throwing in lines that echoed the story of my Grandfather, and the song really took shape. It was a transcendent, fun experience that left us with the feeling that this song was something special.

Recording the tune was a similar story. The sonic references in this song are just about as on-the-nose as it gets for me. Beau and I bond pretty heavily over our love for the kind of music that has just as heavy of a vibe as lyrical prominence. The song echoes the spirit and vibe of JJ Cale, Lou Reed, and Willis Alan Ramsey. Hearing those sounds come to life in the studio was as fun as it gets for me. Grateful that the song came to be, and for the guys for stewarding the tune so well.

Csorba will be performing in Houston on Oct. 6th at the Heights Theater and in Dallas on Oct. 7th at the Kessler. For more information, head to his official site.
