Browsing: The Fabulous Thunderbirds

Escape to a world time left behind with music that’s as timely as it is carrying an American legacy, a Disneyland for blues lovers. This year’s festival begins on Wednesday with an homage to the late Bubba Sullivan, the visionary whose devotion to blues built an event that’s become the gold standard of the genre.

He lent his incredible bass lines to a multitude of artist’s including Bonnie Raitt’s, The Vaughan Brothers, Duke Robillard, Etta James, Professor Longhair, Albert King, Albert Collins, Nick Curran, The Blues Brothers and played with Tinsley Ellis in the Alley Cats.

Kim Wilson, the only original member left in The Fabulous Thunderbirds, talks new soul album, being a veteran in a tough industry, and being the “John Mayall” of American blues!

Kim Wilson’s singing has never been better! His harp playing is inspired, but brilliantly restrained, making it all the more poignant. Again, the band does a spectacular job, and the playing is impressive throughout. This is an excellent album, and definitely worth the long wait.
