“The blues and blues-infused music is rooted in truth. This album is my truth.” Albert Castiglia
Mike Zito ignored the naysayers when he formed his record label. And he’s ahead of the curve with his new album ‘Blues for the Southside,’ a 17-cut live extravaganza that will blow your head off and “take you there” as the Staple Singers would say.
Recorded on November 26, 2021 at the Old Rock House in St. Louis, Missouri, and produced by Mike Zito, ‘Blues for the Southside’ showcases Zito (guitar and vocals) and his stellar band in full fury.

“For me to sing songs and feel them with real emotion, they need to be somewhat personal. Even songs I did not write, I need to feel they explain a part of my thinking or how I am feeling about love, sex, life, death, the world…. ‘Resurrection’ is an album of feelings, emotions, and is very personal.” – Mike Zito
“I’ve known Dave Kalz for 30 years,” said Mike Zito in making the announcement. “He is an inspired guitarist and musician full of heart and soul.”
St. Louis blues man Jeremiah Johnson will be performing a virtual concert on Friday evening. In the midst of the worst pandemic of our lifetimes, Johnson released 2 charting albums, spent time as a father, and plays when he can, all with a smile on his face.
The pandemic might have silenced the music scene, shuttered the live circuit, and kept artists from their fans. But with ‘Heart Of Fire,’ Ally Venable is coming off the ropes swinging.
If you’ve been looking for some new holiday music, or some brilliantly updated classics for your Christmas soundtrack, ‘A Gulf Coast Christmas’ is it.
