On Luther’s Blues, Walter Trout & His Band pay homage to another fantastic musician that we have enjoyed for years, Mr. Luther Allison. The album starts out fast and furious with the throttle mashed all the way to the floor with “I’m Back”, just the way Allison would have wanted it but they also mix in some great slow stuff.

Wheeler is from the school of “I will let my guitar do the talking.” He knows when to let loose, and when to let things breathe a bit. He does not try to impress with a million notes in 12 bars. All his playing makes sense, is for the betterment of the song, and every note belongs right where he plays it.

In an act of protest against the city of Bessemer and their decision to close down one of the only remaining juke joints left in the country, Gip’s Place is planning on having their regular Saturday show. They are snubbing their noses at city hall and will continue to do what they’ve been doing there for over 5 decades.
